Last Words
‘The birch leaves, as they fall,
Are the hue of my tea
One lands in my cup.
Superstition! What have we to fear?’
That’s what you left me with.
Curiously neutral,
Your last impression.
Peaceful, as you were and never were.
Days pass, gathering years.
Making you memory
More than living flesh.
Did I know you? Now I can’t be sure.
