After You Leave, I Make Myself a Cup of Tea

should time bend its inexorable regulations to our
whimsical wishes, it wouldn’t be so wasted
on tomorrows –

spread afloat over our bed instead,
time lingers statically, its butterfly
effects unknown

& unwelcome. we kiss good-bye;
I wait for the kettle to boil. I am
happily waiting.

Yessica Klein is a poet and visual artist based in Lisbon, Portugal. She’s got an MA in Creative Writing from Kingston University (London, UK) and her work has been published widely, including in magazines such as hotdog and SALT. and online platforms like 3:AM and elsewhere journal.
