It’s hard being a poet in 2020

If you have the GUTS to publish it
Which I doubt

It’s hard being a poet in 2020
Which is when this will be published
If you have the GUTS to publish it
Which I doubt
Being bitter & twisted
sunshine snacked on
a little
morning
A drunk girl came up to me in a club last week and told me, yet again, that I look exactly, no, exACtly–Sarah! Come over here! Doesn’t she look exACtly like our Hannah?
and as soon as I touched the freezer’s handle,
the tar wall behind it rippled.
The moon will not go down again,
street lights will be on forever and drive
electricity bills into walls with no seatbelts
we kiss good-bye;
I wait for the kettle to boil. I am
happily waiting.
I want to scrape back the clouds
and bring morning to you on a tray,
allow you that extra hour.
