ONE POEM – Ben Nardolilli

Grown Folk

The body wants to do the dropout boogie,
a way to just slowly spiral out
of reality and not include my self with its accessories

Nothing drastic, just a dance with the dust,
dirty dishes, and dead dreams
piling up in the sink turning into a black hole of mold

No music accompaniment, none is needed,
the player piano scroll inside
is rolling along just fine

Ben Nardolilli is currently an MFA candidate at Long Island University.
